Default Replace belt or...

So the stator crapped out on the bike (2nd in 10 years). Bike has just over 70,000 on it. Since I had to pull the outer primary and the comp/chain/clutch out I thought I would replace the inner primary bearing with a sealed Baker High Torque. Trying to decide if I should take thing a step further since the primary will be off and replace the drive belt. No bad wear, no rock holes that I have seen, but, I did have something get caught between the front sprocket and primary that wore a small, shallow groove in the outer part of the belt last year. Any tips on replacing drive belt? Any methods to not have to completely pull rear swing arm off? 02 Ultra.

You do not have to remove the swing arm to replace the belt. But you do have to loosen the mounts and slide it over. My last ElectraGlide the belt lasted me 98,000 miles. With the damage you stated, I'd replace it because it is not something I'd want to replace roadside.

I suggest you also inspect both pulleys for wear and damage. As with a chain, there's no point spending on a new belt if either or both pulleys are worn/damaged.

totally agree -- I had a bad pulley on my 09 RG belt snapped twice -- the second time the tech inspected the pulley -- some spines had become sharp

Replace the belt and check the pulleys.

Got a new pully with the new S&S motor just over a year ago. As for the 5 speed I pulled it and bought a Jims 6 speed. Right side is buttoned up and working on the drive side.

I bought the recommended Torco 80W90 gear oil. Changing the motor and primary oil (of course). Any recommendations? VTwin 20-50?

I'm thinking the front pulley was steel and the rear was aluminum on my o6, front was fine, back had sharpened.

Outside of the front and rear pulleys was fine. Front pulley nut bolts sheered, the nut loosened and the pulley went wonky then stripped smooth as glass by the main gear.

Front are steel, rear are aluminum. As far as your stripped front pulley , a wise decision would be to replace that main gear as well, ask me why I know, after replacing 2 more pulleys.
