Agreed. You could always keep the old belt as a spare or something.

Wow.... did I just see a three year old thread hijacked....?

I'm lost...

"Neil" asks about changing the drive belt while he has the primary off back in 2016, and he receives 4 timely posts with good advice...

Fast forward three years...

Yesterday "RBlackhawk45" decides to let us know he got a new pulley with a new engine, and a new tranny. Then asks about gear oil......???????

And the thread takes off again...

Come on...... don't do this to me until my coffee kicks in....!!!

The best thing to do in one of these situations is to just simply smile and not. Works for me every time.

He took the advice not to change his belt. When it broke he didn't have cell service. Cops pulled up and asked if he needed anything. They called a tow truck, that took 4 hours to get there. But he didn't have to wait that long, cause they brought him for a dui.

I'm doing just fine. I couldn't replace the inner primary bearing because the race walked inboard toward the pulley so I couldn't get it off. I tried to replace the belt but I couldn't seem to get it out without major struggle. I ended up burning up the motor again due to some oiling issues and bought a 17 RGS last October. I still have the 02 and it still has the belt on it. When I finally get around to getting motor rebuilt I will keep the belt on. Thank you for thinking about me after all these years!
