Battery overcharge?
#21
Sounds like you're thinking of a trickle charger. Today's tenders use circuitry to watch the battery condition and only charge when needed. I can say that I have had batteries last for 7 plus years when using a battery tender on a regular basis. All modern vehicles draw a small amount of juice and will run a battery flat if left connected. I currently have 5 battery tender Jr. I spend a lot less on batteries nowadays.

Just an update on this. Turns out the battery was not bad, it was a new battery but it had been overfilled by the battery outlet where it was purchased by the dealer who sold me the bike. The battery place refunded me for the battery given I had already replaced it. It was one of their generic house brands. Thankfully the only damage I had was a small hole burned through the bottom of the battery box.
