I had the gas cap problem on my 16 RGC CVO Ultra. When I went on a trip and stopped at the first gas station I almost couldn't get it off. Very hard to get it back on also. It was a 900 mile trip. I ran the tank almost to empty each fill to limit the number of times that I needed to fill it.

When I got home I looked at it closely and noticed that the thread came out to a sharp edge. Checking the other bikes the cap thread was rounded. So I got out a flat file and in a couple of minutes had it filed down. Has worked great ever since.

Much faster than going to the dealer. I did tell the dealer about it and the fix. He said they many with the problem and the replacements had the same issue in many cases.

No problem with the clutch. Didn't get a recall letter either. The bike was an early model year build in 15.

Took mine in for the recall and they said it didn't have bubbles so nothing was done.

I'm wondering what they actually do in this recall, does anyone know what is repaired?

Salem Harley in Salem Oregon.
It's not a question of sucky service departments, the recall states the bike must be quarantined for 24 hours. All the '16 leftovers at my dealership have a tag indicating a recall needs to be performed and a big piece of paper wrapped around the left grip saying "do not squeeze clutch lever". According to the recall, the problem exists after the bike has sat for a while, the clutch won't disengage when squeezed.

I was told it became an issue if the bike was parked several weeks with the handlebars turned all the way over to the left, like most folks do when they park their bike. The thing is, I store my bike on a lift (so I can roll it easily to the back of my garage) and therefore the handlebars stay straight most of the time. It didn't matter to the dealer - - they did the recall repair w/o a quarantine anyway.
