Default 13 inch shocks on a RGC or SG

Anyone put 13 inch rear shocks on their road glide or street glide for more suspension travel. Will it mess up the geometry of the bike?

I'm pretty sure the RG/SG had the 12" rear shocks from the rest of the touring line, with the fronts all the same height. Won't affect geometry going to a 13" rear. In fact, it'll be like the rest of the EG and RK geometry-wise.

Thanks, I didn't know if the front shocks were 1 inch lower as well.

I put the 13" HD Hand Adjustable Premium shocks on my previous '11 Street Glide.
Much improved ride after that.

When I traded for the new Limited, I moved those same shocks over to it.

No, the front isn't any lower.

As mentioned, if you put 13" shocks on the rear you will be just like the rest of the touring line.

I went with the 13" Terry Cable rear shocks on my 2013 and 2016 Road Glides. The extra travel is nice and has no effect on handling.

Seems like only yesterday the fad was to put 12" shocks on the Geezer Glides to make them lower and quicker handling like the Street Glides.

Now lots of people wanting to jack up their Street/Road Glides to get more suspension travel.

Better option could be to just upgrade the quality of your 12" shocks to Premium Hand Adjustable or Ohlin shocks. Get the better ride and bonus of better control and handling.

Only 3/4" difference in the strokes, so only 3/8th compression and 3/8th rebound. Not going to be earthshaking in their improvement (but some).

Handling with the longer shocks will be slightly less nimble, while slightly smoother.

Air shocks seem to be the bottom rung of the ladder, no matter how tall you make them.

Street Glides ride on lower profile front tires. That also helps give a quicker handling (but firmer riding) bike.

Street Glides ride like a BMW while Geezers ride more in the Buick style.

Don't go with HD 13 Air shocks, get a minimum 12.5 to 13 inch aftermarket shocks for a better ride.
You will need to set the sag to 3/4 or 1 inch so when you are sitting on the Bike it lowers up to
1/3 of the travel. The more the shock travel the more the sag is needed, but not on HD air shocks,
they just suck. Aftermarket shocks are the way to go.

I put HD Premium Hand Adjustable from a buddy's '14 Limited on my '11 SG. I don't even notice the difference other than not having to worry about air pressure in the stock shocks. I may not have them adjusted properly, but I wouldn't waste the money on these shocks again. And as far as the additional height, I haven't noticed that much difference there, either.

You'll be fine with longer shocks. Your pic shows you and Mrs liquidr1 glidin' along and I can assure you she will enjoy the ride even more if you invest in some good quality shocks.

Its seems like the quality of the ride correlates (proportionally) to how much the poster has spent on an upgrade to stock.
