Anyone run with smaller baffle on left vs right? Giving it a try myself after running 2.5" baffles since Rush Big Louies were new. Then decatted head pipe and lost some low end while enjoying the sounds. Decided to go the 2" baffle route and gained my low end but lost the sounds. Right now I have the left as 2" and right at 2.5". Sounds good but have yet to ride.

 

my priority is tuning

I use supertrapp disk type mufflers and the left is set to flow less than the right.

this keeps the majority of the flow on the right side at low to midrange rpms- essentially acting as a 2 into 1.

in theory at higher rpms the increased exhaust gasses will find their way out the left side through the 2 x 90º bends of the 09+ crossover - the more restrictive left side muffler will help to keep exhaust gas velocity high

you may have seen that the M8 header is sized smaller on the left side

Did 5 hrs of riding and like the results. Good low end again, very noticeable change. Sound is very good too as was very quiet with 2" baffles on both sides. Smooth and very deep sound

I am running 4 inch big louies my self in their SB2 set up they are 3 on the left and 2.5 on the right using a FP3 tuner and Arlenn Ness big sucker with a catted head pipe , no loss of torque with this set up it runs fine and getting better fuel mileage also really barks when you give her the gas

 

Greg, the newer under frame system you have can benefit from "tuning" the balance between the 2 mufflers, but not as much as the "old style" TC touring models. It will change the sound and at best a slight improvement in tuning. My logic with regard to balance. the mufflers would put the larger baffle in the left muffler. I see you are doing the opposite.

 

larger baffle in the left pipe would result in lesser velocity of the exhaust gasses- not what you would want

That was my original thought as well and then did some research prior to staggering. General concensus was 2 into 1 gave best performance so adding some resistance to the left side creates more of that effect in a 2-1-2 setup. I believe leaving a head pipe catted is the only time ive seen making the left side larger, viable.

 

Reversing the baffles could cause discoloration of your muffler
