The old one doesn't even look like it's been worn. I would put it back on.

WOW!
I am no expert, but by those pics, that is what it looks like.

I'd bring it to the dealer and ask if anyone has seen that before.

Do you have to pull the clutch to put in the new SE compensator?

I have no issue grinding a little off the case w/ a Dremel so I don't need to pull the inner primary for the rotor I believe (?)....

Plan to install on a 2008 Ultra this Spring....

I just did 2 of these early last summer, one on my 08 Road King, on which I had installed the first design SE comp and had accumulated over 70,000 miles and the other on my son's '11 Road Glide Ultra, which came from the factory with a previous edition SE comp. Both went in with no problems, no interference. I dealt only with the Harley provided parts, no Compensaver added. I have only 2 guesses. That you installed the wrong little oil collector tray for your machine, or if you put in the Compensaver gadget, that the little plastic oil collector is not only not needed, but interferes with the compensaver. The sprocket has oil ridges on the spokes that I assume are to help keep oil on the cam faces and turning the sprocket around would prevent them form doing their job and put the sprocket in a different plane from the clutch basket sprocket (misalign the chain). Any pictures would be a big help. If the crank shaft extension slid out a little and the first belleville spring fell between it and the rotor, that also might move things outward enough to cause your problem. Since mine went back together with no problems, everything I suggest is just a best guess, I had no interference problems to work through.
