RE: To Touch or not Touch? (see video clip)
I have allowed my neighbor to sit and 'sling' my bike so he could feel the weight (he has a 500lb sport touring and my bike is way 2 much for him. I was supporting the bike straddling the front fender)
I allow my best friend (who is living with me at the moment) to move ride ... and wash my bike. (you have heard me talk about him in other threads as he also has an '07 ultra)
I let one guy at work 'move' my bike when needed to get his out of the parking space. I've also let him ride it once for about 45miles (we swapped bikes at work and rode down to the dealership) while I rode his '03 fatboy.
Other than those... don't mess with my bike... less ya ask or I'll be a bit 'testy'.

Never had a stranger ask but my response is going to be, " You drop it you buy it." Meaning whatever gets scratched up, fork over the money to repair it. Close friends have sat on her and me and a buddy swapped bikes because I wanted to see how his 16'sfelt on his poilce officer edition but that's it.
I went to a local shop for a dyno and also talked to themechanic about installing 16's. We walked outside to look at his Road King with 16's and asked ifI sat on it to see how they felt. My immediate response was "NO." Hegave me a strange look because I guess the way I replied to his question. He then said, " Hop-a-leg."

It doesnt matter if its your wife, bike, car, kid, or dog IF IT AINT YOURS DONT TOUCH IT! If ya ask and are told its OK then its OK, if your told NO, dont get all butt hurt. It still aint yours. I came out of the store the other day after parking on the side where there were no other cars, and my right bag lid looks like some F'n kid ran his Hot Wheels across the top. The kid didnt drive himself there so a "parent" was there and didnt want to stick around to find out if the biker that owns the bike was gonna kick his a$$ or not.By the way you can't buff scratches out of denimpaint!

My kids know they can sit on my bike, if I put them there. The wife will sit on it from time to time, no problem. I have a buddy at work who I have ridden with, sit on my bike when he saw the new apes on it. He didn't ask, and he knew he didn't have to. He has a bike, and knows I will crush him if he f'd it up. Another guy I work with asked me tonight to ride my bike. He doesn't own one, I have never seen him ride. So I said no way. He got defensive. I told him, he doesn't have a license, doesn't own a bike, so it wasn't going to happen. We are close friends, we hang out outside of work. If he had asked to just sit on it, I would be fine with it, as long as I was there. But not ride it. I told him, if he really thought he was going to buy a bike of his own, take the riders edge course, get a license, and then I might let him. He then understood. These bikes are part of us, and a very personal posession. My kids however, are my greatest accomplishment. They can do whatever they want to my bike, as long as I am there. I would never snap at them like the video, and would never curse at them. They don't deserve it, that being said, I did laugh at that video, and will be showing it to the wife tomorrow, when she gets off work. LOL
