Default A Little Help From the Wind

I was riding north up through Iowa today with a stiff south wind. Its amazing how much difference it made in fuel mileage. I stopped for fuel at 157 miles and took only 3.55 gallons. Over 44 MPG! That's the best I've seen on this bike. The lowest I've seen is about 35 MPG.

Yes it does make a huge difference. Especially on the Ultra and especially noticeable into a headwind when you have to switch to reserve (older bikes) in the middle of nowhere in the western states.

I have a '05 rk custom. It has a reserve. It isn't THAT old. lol I like having the reserve. I keep a good eye on the milage, but it is nice to know I have a reminder to get gas. Sometimes, I am having so much fun riding, fueling up gets forgotten.

I should think you would only find reserves on carbed bikes. Running out of gas with FI could present problems.
