Milwaukee 8 Ride Comments
#32
i test rode a 2017 hard candy black gold road glide today.
engine = smooth
shifting = no clunk
suspension = improved over rushmore
sounds = goldwing, bike definitely needs slipons or a non factory muffler.
bars= like all new road glides, either rotate up or replace.
overall scale of 1 to 10
I'd give it a 8.75, you can dance to it but needs a bit more volume.
smoothest torquest factory stock engine I've ridden.
pulled 5k easy, over triple digits in 6th easy.
can hear the airbox if you get in it deep in lower gears.
front suspension better valving.
wife liked the hard candy color, not certain i like the 3k premium.
maybe in the new calendar year after a few have been ridden and any bugs identified
last comment absolutely no HEAT from engine or pipes on legs.

Sounds something like that Harley should have put out @least a decade ago.

I went and looked them over yesterday. I loved what I seen so far. I won't be getting one any time soon though, I'd rather wait and see what the engine does over the course of a year or two.
My biggest concern so far is how the tappets will adjust the valve lash for a forked/dual rocker. One tappet for two valves. I know they're self adjusting but I'm not convinced that both valves faces/springs/seats will wear identically. Then again, I know we're not drag racing. I want to see how these engines do over 60,000 or 80,000 miles. We need a couple high mileage riders to bite the bullet I got 32,000 miles on my 15' Limited and it's running just fine.
