Not that I don't think the new bikes aren't noticeably better than a stock Rushmore. But different shocks and an emulator up front is hardly a giant step forward. I already have that stuff on my bike.
It's funny, I have been reading this stuff on this forum since MOCO came out with the 96 in 2007. Yet, while a 2007 Vivid Black Harley looks almost identical to a vivid black 2017 to the average person, very few parts (if any) are interchangeable. I'm convinced that even if Harleys had the suspension you wanted, you wouldn't give them credit.

I'm not sure I'm reading this right. It almost sounds as if you think I'm a Harley basher. If that's the case, if only you could see my posts defending them here, on other forums, and Facebook. I liked my 2011, and I like my 2014 even more. I'm sure, as I've stated, that the 2017 probably is as remarkably better than my 2014 than my 2014 was vs the 2011. And even though I feel the suspension changes are minimal on the 2017 (because they are), I have no doubt that the whole (riding experience) is greater than the sum of it's parts.

That said, I like my 2014 SGS quite a bit. I have put a lot of money into it to make it fit me, as well as run and ride the way I want it to. It truly is the best bike I have ever owned and currently, the best bike for my needs. I don't feel a burning desire to trade it on a 2017 even though I'm sure it's "better".

Anyway, lately I've had an itch for less weight, more power, and a better suspension. The new bikes aren't all of that to the extent that I need them to be to make a change. Thus far there isn't a bike made by anyone that has all of that, that I like, or that fits me while maintaining all my other "needs". My hope is that Harley makes a new Sport Glide. I would love to see 100hp/110tq, less weight.....even current Wideglide weight is fine, and 5 inches of suspension travel. Rest assured, if they produce that, I will sing their praises from the rooftops. But until they do make the bike that fits my criteria, I'll probably hang onto mine because it's a great bike. Or if they come out with that new frame in 2018, and it's as good as I hope it is, maybe that will be a consideration. We'll just have to see. But I appreciate the current efforts, rest assured. Evolution, not revolution.

There are two different size inlets on the mufflers with the right side being significantly larger than the left. Just eyeballing the inlet on the right hand muffler is ~2.5" in diameter as compared to prior models at 1.75". The picture below shows this larger inlet (please note that the catalytic converter is still located in the head pipe portion of the exhaust system as seen on the right edge of the picture).

I pick up my new SGS tomorrow morning, was supposed to be this afternoon but the extra goodies weren't ready. I'll be closely inspecting all the differences, since I do all my own work other than warranty stuff, it should be pretty obvious what has changed.

The mufflers are not the only exhaust change. Below is a picture of the new factory crossover with a complete redesign to match.

Now that's interesting. At this point in your testing would a set of SE slip ones be worth the investment ?

Looks like that by moving the cat farther back, the head pipe is longer or at the very least the outlet had to be pushed to the edge so that it would be behind the catalytic converter.

If there is a new frame for 2018, I suppose that there is a danger that the exhaust design/routing could change again.
