Default Touring with your touring bike

My wife and I just returned from vacation, we rode our 2012 Electraglide from N.Y. Down to Gattlinburg/Pigionforge Tenn. area , I was taken by surprise when we were asked many times did you trailer the bike down here , the looks we received when we told them no , we rode it down here , I'll just say some were priceless , isn't that what we all got these touring bikes for riding long distances out of town/state instead of driving the family mini van?????

Not exactly, if you lived in the flatlands of the midwest, where all the roads are stright....you would trailer your bike too.....but yes, touring should be done with the bike and not having it behing your mini van.

The same thing happens to me. I left central Michigan a month ago and met up with my buddies in Iowa. Our final destination was Yellowstone with a few side trips. I did 4150 miles total on my Streetglide. Memories that will last forever.

Maybe it's because there are so many people with Harley's that are garage queens.
Yellowstone! Very cool. I wanna ride out there and see it before it too. Of course we have to hurry up and do it because according to the doomsday theorists it's going to erupt and be a catastrophic event for anyone even close to it. I'm jealous.

I just shake my head whenever I see baggers on a trailer-and I've heard all the excuses.'Bad back' 'not enough time' 'want to get there refreshed and enjoy my vacation' etc.Ya ride it or sell it.!

I think it depends on the part of the country you live in, I've never gotten that question while out riding in the west. I'm actually surprised when I meet someone who tells me the bike got here on a trailer. I would say that 85-90% of the bikes I see on the road that appear to be on a road trip are Harley's.

I mostly agree, but I rode from Utah to California's Highway 1 a few weeks ago. It was 105 degrees through Nevada. At 2:00am Baker was still over a hundred. An hour or two of that was ok but about the third hour, I wouldn't have turned down a ride in a trailer.

Just rode to Sturgis and back from NC. About 4,300 miles in 10 days. Great scenery and memories with friends that will last a lifetime. When I tell people about the trips I take they always say "did you trailer it" I just smile and say 2 wheels and a motor what else do I need?
