Default 2002 King - Rear turn signal bracket loose

Should the chrome bracket for the rear turn signals on a 2002 road king be "loose"? Mine is...I can move it about 1/8" to 1/4" up and down.

I've tried tightening the 2 bolts inside the fender, and I'm afraid of putting too much torque on the bolt and stripping it out or breaking it off. When they are tight, the bracket isn't locked tight to the fender...it can still be moved a little bit. That got me to thinking that maybe the bracket is supposed to "float" on the fender on purpose?

If its supposed to be tight/solid to the fender, I'll take the bolts off, and put one of those belleville locking spring washers on there, which should allow it to tighten up, and stay tight.

it is supposed to be tight, probably has been loose for a long time , and had junk on the threads , pull it off , and clean them up, and loc tite it ,and tighten it up.

Should be tighten. Maybe some lock washers? Also, there were some aftermarket models that did not fit good, especially the more narrow version.

Hard to believe the lock washers are missing but maybe the previous owner messed with the lights before you. I'd check em.

Sounds like the bolts are too long and bottoming out before being tight on the fender.
