Bought a set of rinehart true duals and the BLACK end caps are turning red. That's a lot of money for some end caps to turn. Has anyone got some info on the situation ?

 

Purple seems to be the color of choice, the red is a new one. You must have the upgraded ones Mine only have 500 miles on them and they are still black.

 

Mine changed on my RKC in about 500 miles - called and had them exchanged once - about 500 miles or so later they were back to UN-BLACK

 

I've heard that Rineharts had some quality problems recently with discoloration.
For the money they want for a system, they aren't all that in my book.[sm=confused06.gif]
Try calling the manufacturer and see if they will exchange them.

 

They turned down my request for an exchange. Keep your reciept!

For you true dual gus there is a company selling nice looking chrome and high temp powder coasted ones...

I just sent my 2 into 1 endcap out to get chromed. Too bad it going to take 2-3 freaking weeks...

 

I bought the chrome end caps when I bought my Rinehart TD's from Eastern Performance Cycles; pulled the black caps before installing; and sold them to a buddy at a good discount from list price--the TD's were $600 from EPC at the time, so the switch to chrome cost me about $75. Perhaps if you are getting a replacement set from Rinehart you can get them to send you chrome end caps instead since the retail list price for chrome was the same as the black caps last time I checked. Don't know why some black change and others don't.

I have the 2-1 system on my street glide, the end cap turned orange, they sent me a new one and now it's turning purple. I'm with mickeymax on this one, for the money you would think they would get it right the second time.

uh yeah... mine started turning gold after about 300 miles... heat.

I was thinking of having some end caps done in black chrome.
