Keep your 2001, attend to the tensioners and ride it.

Newer isn't always better.

IMO you can't go wrong with either one. JR

I just went from a 2013 Street Glide to a 2016 Road Glide Special. I love the way it rides and handles on the highway. This is just me, but I feel the RGS fits me better and I don't feel as tired after a long ride. Plus, I like the idea of two headlights coming towards traffic vs. a single headlight.

Roadie-ism is a cult. Do not enter unless you wish to be assimilated! We will teach you the Roadglide secret handshake if you qualify. If that does not appeal to you, by all means be ordinary.:icon _tongue:

Street Glide gives much better weather protection to both rider and passenger.

Road Glide cuts through the air better at higher speeds and has lighter steering feel.

Both look different, so if it is about the looks, pick the one you like best.

I rode the road glides in Daytona during bike week. If I remember correctly I rode the RGS, RGU and a CVO road glide. I love the way they look and wanted to love it, but I didn't and I don't know why!! I think I've been riding a batwing for so long I couldn't get used to the road glide fairing being so far away.

Best advice is test ride them back to back and see which one does it for you. Good luck!!

I found the RG fairing too far away and the Batwing too close. Felt too warm on hotter days with both......went with the Road King......

Both good bikes and each have some advantages and disadvantages over the other. Test ride them both and you'll figure out which one is best for you.

Same bike different fairing.I test rode a road glide & got beat up by the wind,BUT,that was with that rinky dink windshield.A larger shield would probably fix that problem. The Street Glide has the same issue with the small windshield.Ended up going for another SG but I liked the RG as well.I knew what I would have to do to get the SG to my satisfaction & never had a RG so I went with what I knew.Got a SG,really like the looks of the RG though. It's a toss up.Ride both, figure it out.

As others stated- riding them both is the only way you will decide what is best for you.
