Default Electronics on bike quit

We just took a 1800 mile trip from IL to UP and northern MI, bike performed flawlessly. ON the way home, like the last 60 miles my cd player started acting up and the cruise quit, wouldn't activate. I shut the radio off so just the time displays, then the time disappeared and I rode on home. got closer to home and realized the blinkers weren't working either, didn't flash.....wasn't for sure on the headlights. pulled in driveway, headlights on, turn signals lit up, no spotlights (have Headwinds spot/turn led combo).....unloaded bike, plugged into battery tender that night and next day everything was back to normal.

Ok, so I checked voltage regulator, putting out 14 volts with bike running, pulled battery, took to O'Reilly's and they showed it good. battery is 3 years old.

What's your opinion.....regulator having intermittent issues?

After charging the battery, what is the voltage? If it is less than 12.3 you have a dead cell. I have also seen batteries make and break internal connections because of vibrations. Also check and possibly replace fuses.

It showing 12.7....if everything is working now it couldn't be a fuse?

Battery appears good. And they did a load test on the battery?

I've seen fuses reconnect. It was very odd.

I've never seen an intermittent regulator. Is the stator voltage good?

Have you tried pulling diagnostic codes?

I have had an intermittent regulator before. It finally failed completely. I did get a low voltage dtc though.

ORradtech.......don't know how to pull a diagnostic code? I cleaned every connection at the battery and reinstalled it, covered connections with petroleum jelly. It fired back up.....guess I will see if it happens again, if does I'll have to call my dealer for help, I'm not that smart.

As long as you're cleaning and tightening wires it's a good idea to do the other ends as well.
Somewhere on this site is a how-to on pulling codes. Not hard to do, just a process to follow. Offhand though I don't remember where to find it. Maybe someone with a better memory can help point you in the right direction.

Oh, and get some dielectric grease instead of petroleum jelly.
