Starter Farting
#21
That is the best way I can describe it. On a cold-crank my '09RK w/ a 103 kit w/ ACRs will make all sorts of racket when trying to start. It always starts, but getting it cranked over is where all the racket is coming from. I engage the starter and there will usually be some sort of pop, almost sounds like a kickback and then it'll crank over again and fire. This morning it did it, worse than ever and smoke came out of the A/C. Kind of a bluish smoke. That has never happened before and was very worrisome. The battery is not that old and is usually hooked to a tender when sitting for more than a couple of days.
What am I looking at here? Starter, compensator, ACRs? Do compression releases ever really go bad? I am running 10.5:1 w/ the HD ported and flowed heads. I do have the HD service contract on the bike, but I want to know where to begin so I dont get the run-around by the dealer when they "cant find anything wrong."
