Default Can't find the post about rotor service bulliten

ok.... my bud and my bike's were built a few days apart. Looking at 'em my bike's front rotors they are 'reversed' than his are (don't know about the rear as I haven't looked). Now neither of us are having any squeeling issues so far. I saw a post out here and it wasn't specific about rotors/brakes but showed original and 'reversed' stock rotor looks. I've been searching and either finding virtually nothing or way too many posts. The post, if I recall correctly, showed I think a blue fender with how the rotors came originally and how they look reversed.

Anyone recall a post like this? Trying to see which bike's rotors are reversed and which are old stock setup (think they started reversing 'em at the assembly lines if I remember the post right)

Scratchin my head and goin crazy tryin to find it.

sweet.... ty 07street. I figured most were smarter than me and found it. couldn't resort my searches by date as they show up based on 'rating' ... I must have passed it by a few times. Thanks so much. Seems my rotors are in 'reverse' order. I would assume they came this way from the factory ... my bud's are 'normal' (based on the pics soos put in). Not that it makes a difference as neither of us have any squeeling issues with the brakes. I was more 'curious'

When I got my '05, the brake squeal started almost immediately. If you don't have it, or your buddy, you might not have it. I was told originally it was because of the cast wheels, and was not an issue on wire wheels. They filled the cast wheels with a silicon'foam and the squeal stop. I had mine switched just to see if there was a difference. And for me, that draggin' sound from the pads against the rotors at slow speed was gone after the switch. Might just be me, or the fact it has only been a week or so, butI noticethe difference, and am happy about it.

An easy way to tell is to just read the stamp on the rotor. Each front one has a "left" and a "right" stamped in the surface. If you are on the right side of the bike and the rotor stamp says "left", they have been switched.

Got the dealer to do it to my 06 when they changed out tires. It no longer squeals when stopping going forward. But will when I back it out of the garage. Go figure.

Yeah..... I remember reading the original post ... but had forgotten the 'guts' of it.... shoulda just gone and looked at the rotors in 'detail'.

interesting though that on our ultras... (one reversed.. one normal) ... no squeaking (cept a when applying the brake and going backwards).

Ya, good thing we don't go backwards very often.

My 06 Ultra doesn't have them reversed, and I have no squeal going either direction. The easiest way is like said above, stamped right, mounted on left = reversed. stamped right, mounted on right = not reversed.
Another easy way is to look at the cooling grooves, there is a more rounded(bulb) end on one side of the cut, trailing to rotaion = not reversed, leading to rotation = reversed

this is the link to the Brake Service Bulletin M-1192A (The pdf link is in the first posting)
