I have been riding a 1992 XL1200 for the past 7 years. I had a 1982 FXRS before that, and a 1988 XL883 before that. I want a Electra Glide Classic, and I get one as soon as I can.

I've looked at other, less expensive, bikes that might work for long rides. I decided that I'll just get the right bike to start with, and really save some money!

I got back into bikes with a sportbike, sold it, went to a less sporty sportbike, sold it, went to both a metric cruiser and a sport bike and a quad, rode a buddy's Road King, sold the metric, sport bike and cruiser quick as I could and bought a RK of my own. . . now I'm happy!!!!

I think the custom baggers are just starting with some of the builders.
Fat baggers for example, does some great $$$ work.
A tricked out baggerhas the best of both, form and function.

Baggers are selling the for HD.

OR are we all getting older, with more time to ride.

Am I doubly smart??? Or just lucky? My first two HDs are both baggers. I love the fairing, stereo, and lockable storage (paranoid?).Even the SG sitsme a bit higher in the wind than I want to be but it's my wifes bike to ride mainly.

Maybe coolmac is right and I'm just getting old.

ORIGINAL: Cache

What's wrong with owning two bikes?

One for pleasure and the other for what else......pleasure!!!!!

How many pair of shoes do you own? My point exactly!!!

Enjoy the finer things in life!!!!

Love my SG, but I got a yearning for a smaller/lighter second bike, thinking about getting a 1200R Sportster.

I rode the same hardtail Ironhead Sporty for 18 years. Had my sights set on the 35th aniv. Superglide. Took a spin on an EletraGlide on a windy day and I was sold. Started second guessing myself on the Superglide, but after the first long ride on the EG I knew I made the right choice. Just alot more comfy (yeah, I'm getting older too) than the Super. God bless shock absorbers.

I'm with Cache, I'll get another bike along with the Deuce. Now if I can only make up my mind between the
SG or the EG....damn

Whatever did the old timers do on long rides before land yachts? Why do softails try to look like rigid frames? When did riders start melting in the wind? Why stop at bags when you could drag a trailer? Who can survive a trip without an audio system! We all know the more bling the better the RIDE. How come 2/3rds of Americans are overweight? I just don't understand-guess I'm just wierd with my backpack, RIDING my bobber to other states, but I'm just a kid. I'm only 53. Someday I'm going to get a car with a convertable top and travel in comfort and style!
