Default 5v Hardwiring for SiriusXM Question

I bought one of those SiriusXM Radio 5 Volt Hardwired Power Adapters that TSS Radio and many others sell so I can use my SiriusXM radio on my Electra Glide Classic (see picture) What I want to know is where to attach the tinned ends to get power. I realize that I want to attach to somewhere that is switched power so when the bike is off, so is the adapter. Honestly, the rest is now gotten confusing. Can anyone who has done this give me some clear cut directions on how to do this cleanly and safely? Of course, the directions that is came with are vague and sketchy at best...

Also the auxiliary plug under the seat is already in use for my Road Zeppelin seat so that route is out.

Thanks!
John

Use the switched power in the headlight wiring harness. It is an OR wire. You can use the fairing ground for the ground side or there is a ground not used with the OR wire in the headlight wiring.

I connected my GPS with XM radio to the cig lighter wiring in the fairing. The fuse is probably a 2amp for the XM radio.

mjonesjr84:Not to sound stupid but I am not exactly understanding what it is that you are referring to. What is the OR wire?

Goose: I am wanting to avoid using the cig lighter for a cleaner install but thanks for your help.

Sorry, that is the wire color; orange. It is in the headlight harness along with a black ground wire. Neither are used on US bikes.

I use this ORANGE wire for signal to turn my amp on and for the UltraCool oil cooler fans (UltraCool instructions).

Ah ha, Gotcha. Is this wire combination easy to locate after removing the headlight assembly? Just for clarification: these wires only have power when the key is on, correct?

Yea, remove the outer fairing and look at the headlight wiring. It is obvious. You may have to open the wire loom up to see the wires.

No. I meant to tap the wires that feed the cigarette lighter socket. The wires behind the inner fairing.

There's no particular reason not to go to the accessory plug under the seat even if it's already being used for something else. That adapter just isn't going to draw that much current.
But the other two options in the faring would also work. And you could always tap into the radio power wire.

The headlight bucket is where I wired in my GPS; there's a spare set of switched wires there. I ran them through the clutch cable hole.
