can an 09-12 rear pulley be used on 08 touring?
Anyone know if I can use a 09-12 rear pulley on my 08 road king? the 09 is two teeth larger. I will be changing belt to new stock, front pulley to new stock and I found a clean used rear pulley from a 09 which is two teeth larger and want to know if I can use it. I pull a trailer and sixth seems a little low once in a while.....I know the rear tire and rim is larger, but not sure about the offset or clearance issues...anybody? and no, its not covered in my factory manual for 08 touring

It won't work as the 08 and 09 hubs/IDS are too different.
The 08 has an external self contained IDS/sprocket and the 09 has a sprocket that is half of the IDS and inserts itself into the wheel hub which houses the other half of the IDS bits...
I've read that you can run a Japanese sportster sprocket on your bike which is larger. Might loose your IDS though.

Added info with pics for those unfamiliar with bolt-on vs. integral IDS (Isolated Drive System) aka "Cush Drive"
