I dented my tank (don't ask). New ones are ridiculously priced and a repair/repaint is about $500. I found someone selling one listed as fitting '10-'12. Mine is an '09. Will it fit and be "plug and play"?

Any help or other advice?

If in doubt ring you nearest dealer and check the part numbers for both years

 

Tank part number for a Road King is the same from 08 up, (Part # 61268-08 ) the RK tank
is not the same as the rest of the touring family. The RK tank has the filler cap to the right
side of center, and the fuel gage is to the left side. The other Touring models has the fill
in the center.

Pay attention to the mention about touring tanks not all being the same, center fuel fill, side fuel fill, gas gauge in tank or not etc.
Also note that a used replacement might not be the same color on another year..Red is sometimes not just red from year to year and a pin stripe might not be the same.
$500 does not sound bad for a fix and repaint considering a used one might have a scratch.

 

Now would be a good time to do that customs color you were thinking of. Hit me up if you decide that you want to git rid of your dented tank.
