Don't back away, run away. As fast as you can.Like others have said, plenty of good used bikes to be had with out having to worry about any damage caused fro the drop

Plenty other bikes out there to choose from.
A truck is different, alot more weight and force.

Not saying I wouldn't inspect it, but I wouldn't consider it the same as an accident.

I suspect it is just fine.

I've had bikes tip backwards onto the back tire. I have dumped bikes while driving them that have ended up with tires off the ground. PIA to pick up.

Inspection, ride, and good price, and I might. Use it as a way to take him down. But if it was an issue, he wouldn't have told you it happened.

One good thing about Harleys is the heavy frame.

The whole thing sounds sketchy at best. I would say keep looking .

My bike was hit by a guy backing out of a driveway. Guess I will have to keep it forever.
Just got it back yesterday and it looks better than when they towed it in. I guess you are questioning your sale because of the seller hesitating about damage? Frame damage from fall 8" off a lift? Eh.....I guess it COULD happen. (No I don't). Use the info to your advantage...see it i you can get the price lower. If you like the bike....get it. But don't pay asking price.

Thanks!
I missed this. I thought he volunteered it.

I am so-so on this part. If the story is true, I am not all that worried. But if it was an accident, maybe I would be. Actually I would just want the price drove down, if it inspected ok.

If the seller was not forthcoming about the damage to the bike, it would
make me really wonder about what else he is hiding!
I would not buy that bike, but that's just me..

Kinda depends on the lift it fell off of. If it tipped off of a craftsman jack, I wouldn't worry to much about it, if it was up high and fell, I too would wonder about the frame. try to find out if insurance fixed it. They would have most likely totaled it if there was frame damage.

I wouldn't hesitate if it checks out from a dealer or indy. Sounds like a smokin' price.

I was on a VTX1300 before I bought my fist HD.

Good luck, and post up some pics when you get it home.

From your post, the seller seems shady. I don't do business with shady people. Way too many low mileage bikes out there to choose from especially ones that haven't been dropped. I wouldn't buy it.

I agree with Steeler - fell off a Craftsman lift ; maybe. My vote is walk - too many good choices at your price is out there. Keep looking & you'll find it!!

Full disclosure, I bought this 08 Road King Classic w/ 18K miles. I paid $5K after repairs which was replacing the front motor mount, handle bars and clutch. Might have been a mistake, not sure yet. It does pull to the left when I let go of the handle bars. I'm hoping it's just tires but could be forks or rims or alignment. I'll end up putting a couple of G's in it anyway as I'm putting new rims and tires. I would ride the bike at highway speed and let go of the bars and make sure it doesn't pull. If it tracks straight, I would doubt there's any structural damage. Just my thought.
