Do I need a remap, tuner, or just go

correct answer here -- your choice
Your choices are a simple matter of good, better, best. Your good as is if the bike is running ok with no pooping or pinging but it will be lean. Lean means heat. I ran a bike with the stage one download for 45,000 miles before I sold it. Ran great. With a tuner your bike will run cooler and have more power. If you want to top that, find a reputable indy with a dyno and let him tune it.
Good luck making your choice.

My 2 cents;
If all you did was change the mufflers AND add a free flowing air cleaner, A stage 1 download is enough. You still have the catalytic converter in the header so it has to run lean or the catalytic converter will burn resulting in more heat.
That's why you hear of a header change to get rid of the catalytic converter. You can add more fuel to reduce engine heat.

The answer is YES, NO, or MAYBE.
YES, you should richen up the fuel even if only with FL-Vied-10 or some type of a tuner.
NO, you don't need a download, unless you get some time on a dynamometer to dial it in.
A lot of people on this Forum do not think a download will help a Stage-I, cause it's to lean.
MAYBE, we need more information on the Bike. Have you own it since new? If not do you
know if the previous owner did the Stage-I, or did you do the Stage-I ? Do you know if
your Bike still have a Catalytic Converter in the header pipe, if yes you might want to get
rid of it.

I would get a tuner to maximize your changes. My .02 do not go with the V&H fuelpak. They refuse to acknowledge what modes control what parameters of the bike, because that is their "proprietary info" so fine tuning is impossible. Every change is a compromise. You gain some here but lose in other places. Maybe their new one with the auto tune is better, but the second gen I have sucks ***.
