What you just did is the right thing to do. No need for zip ties or any other workarounds. And no hassle, no mess. Here's a picture I put together for those that are wondering what I mean. It's based on a 2013 Street Glide, but it should apply to most 2009 and up FL's (not sure about older bikes):

There is a front and back side to these. If yours is in correctly and it is coming out is because the muffleralignment with the headpipe is off. When I bought my 2012 CVO it came out on the way home after buying it. I could see a off angle as the muffler was going thru the bushing. I loosened all the exhaust clamps/P clamps and the exhaust ports, aligned everything straight, tightened it up and its been over 2 years now without issues. I would put new bushings in if you do this adjustment if yours has been coming out. The rubber bushing gets deformed and will want to keep coming out after being in this position. This should fix you up.

They have a lip to stop it from sliding out. Turn it around

OK - I'm frickin confused. The Service Manual exploded diagram has them facing up and forward. bikeagraman has them up and rearward....zip ties, pennies....whoa buddy, we have a lot of fixes going on here!

I'm gonna put it up on the jack, check to make sure everything is lined up square and call it good. If it still squeaks it's getting a shot of WD!

The heat cooks the rubber, gets hard and makes noise.

For about 5 bucks a pair, I replace as needed, instead of jig riggin.

Consider it a maintenance item.

Stop the madness. By all means make sure the mufflers are aligned properly and not cocked, but refer to post 21 for placement of the rubber.

OP see #22 and 27 and youll be fine. As far as zip ties, pennies, and reversing them, these are band aid or snake oil fixes. Probably 99% of baggers out there dont have an issue because it is set up correctly.

I presume you have the 212 set up, set up the pipes from heads back to the right muffler to be straight, then adjust and align the left one, once the right is on the right plane, simply rotating the X over will move the left side to the correct plane too. But be sure when you tighten it the alignment doesnt change.

Brand new EGC in 2013 and put on Big Louies, same issue on one side. Put back in, came out. Reversed and has been fine for 3 years
