Rattling Chain Noise on Deceleration
I have an 06 Ultra Classic with 45k miles. It recently started making a rattling chain noise. It's most noticeable on deceleration, but I also hear it when riding at a constant speed in 4th gear. It happens when the engine is cold or warm. I only hear the noise when the bike is moving. I checked the following but didn't find anything:
- Heat shields
- Front motor mount
- Saddlebag support bracket
- Rear muffler mount rubber blocks
- Exhaust header flange nuts
- Floor board mounts
- Kickstand hitting metal
I did not check the primary chain adjuster.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Problem solved!
The primary chain adjustment was spot on. The problem was the (2) Torx bolts that secure tour-pak support bracket to the frame. One was very loose, the other came loose and fell off the bike.
After spotting this I think I checked about every fastener on the bike. I used a torque wrench on critical fasteners.
