I was embarrassed by the experiment but pleased to discover that the saddlebag lid can handle a few miles of lapping in the wind without any damage. Nice lady pulled up and pointed the problem out to me, I was panicked thinking I ruined the lid but it was all good. I have no idea what was in the bag at the time, maybe an extra pair of gloves and a windshield rag, but it was nicely cleaned out at the end.
there is always a bungee cord in one of my bags. If too full to latch. bungee over the top to hold it shut as well as possible. I would not want them just flapping in the wind. Bad for the 'not so cheap to replace' hinges.
Can't say I rode with a saddle bag open but. Many times bought too much groceries to fit in the bags. I hang the bags that don'f fit on my handle bars. lol, Of course my house is about one mile from the store. ;-)
yep, 1 time, so far. 5 miles latter people are waving and pointing. I didn't have a clue what the hell was going on. at a stop light I finally looked back. Bingo, dork, riding this bike. Now I know why people are waving. They are trying to make sure everybody sees the dork.
kroozeabout.
I just pointed this out to a guy last Sunday. I pulled up, as he looked over to nod i pointed at his bag. He looked pretty embarrassed but we've all done that.
