Now for the bad news. I had a 2010 96" that the compensator was failing on at 22,000 miles. Repaired under warranty with an upgrade to the SE compensator. The good news is that the motor ran strong after that and still is.

I have a buddy with the 2010 and he had to change the comp at 30,000. It happens, but don't buy into any hype. They're not all bad.

Buying this one used, I'm not sure if that is something this one will need. What were the signs of failure? And outside of warranty, is that an expensive repair? Also, the one I'm looking at is a 103". Are those affected as well or just the 96"?

Real pretty scoot, welcome home!
Thank you. And you're right. They're not all bad but good to be in the know should it occur.
Great bike. i had a 2010 ultra classic. i traded it at 14999 for a 2013 limited when they came out. never had a problem with it, i just wanted the bigger engine. only advice is ride the pi$$ out of it. ride safe.

The other one I was looking at just happened to be a twin of yours - a 2013 Ultra Limited in Chrome Yellow Pearl/Vivid Black. Unfortunately, it sold before I could start the process.
As far as riding the pi$$ out of it , I love riding distance. This was my planned +/- 1600-mile weekend trip for last weekend on my 2010 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Nomad that I had to cut short because of a coolant leak issue by the time I made it 250 miles from home.
I did nearly the same thing. Came off a Kawasaki Nomad, to the Limited. You will love it. Nice colors. Do some research on here. That model had a voltage regulator recall and yes the 103 OEM compensator issues. I just replaced mine covered under extended warranty at 31k miles. You will love it, much nicer than that Kawasaki.

Picked it up today and I definitely love it. Took a little getting used to, especially the turn signals. And learnt quick not to park it in the garage after getting back from a long ride. The entire garage and house smelled like gasoline!
I'll definitely run a check for open recalls on the HD website.

You have a problem that needs to be identified and fixed. There should be no reason for your house/garage to smell like gas after any ride.
