Sorry to start another exhaust thread but I have a 2008 Street Glide with V&H Ovals that were installed before I took delivery of the bike (Ovals not Monster Ovals). They sound great at idle and around town but are too loud for touring. The bike has a stage 1 (SERT) and has about 15000 miles on it (Garage Queen due to busy work and family life)

Now that I have more time I want to do some long distance touring and the pipes have to go. Can anyone recommend a quiet touring exhaust for an 08 SG? Can I install the stock pipes with the stage 1 AC and not have any issues? Id like to keep the same engine performance that I currently enjoy if possible.

Supertrapp. Adjustable number of diffuser disks and optional end cap lets you adjust for TQ vs HP and quiet vs loud.

I currently run a Harley NightStick 2 into 1 exhaust, which is made by Supertrapp.

I can ride all day without fear of loosing my hearing. Based on what I have actually heard, these should be between a stock muffler and your V&H Ovals.

 

Call Fuel Moto and get some 4" dyno-tuned Jackpots. I think mine are perfect. They speak if you want them too but mellow when touring. Perfect mix IMHO.

 

I have vance and hines twin slash oval mufflers and while they have a good sound to them, I think they are too quiet. Not enough rumble.

 

Cheapest would be some '10up take offs (cvo better). Next would be some SE fatshoz. They come up used a lot, are made by supertrapp and are adjustable. Mine make good power and are pretty quite even with open caps. After that the noise goes up...with little hp gain on a stage 1.

 

Go to American Custom Exhaust website and check what they offer.. Get a pair of stock take offs and have them rebaffled. You can change out baffles in minutes. They have sound bites. May work fot you.

 

I ended up with FuelMoto E Series on the stock header. Very similar to Super Trapp only oval shaped. The bike runs good and they're quiet, not quiet quiet, but great for long trips. The best sounding exhaust I've ever had, according to the compliments I got were the Khrome Werks H.P. Plus on a set of V&H Dresser Duals. But those were 08 mufflers when the bike was new. I don't know if they are still the same now or not.

 

I really like the sound of my S&S SPO mufflers. I can ride it all day with out an issues.
Quiet enough to tour through a small town at 2000 rpm , with out drawing attention, but when you snap it open ,you definitely know it's there.
