Default Custom fit D&D exhaust on 16 RG..

Hi All,

I am new to the touring scene, I come from previously owning a dyna.

Anyways I have been researching the multiple exhaust systems for touring models and ive decided I want to stick with D&D since the performance is what im after.

So far im not a fan of the current D&D choices, the headers seem way too long and the newer systems have another bend in the headers which isn't very appealing but I could possibly live with it. Am I the only one that feels this way?

I really like the look of the mega cat, but that was designed for the S&S 143 and its definitely too much exhaust for my 103.

So im thinking about modifying a dyna D&D fat cat similar to the one in my sig pic to fit my Road glide with the hope it looks something like the mega cat. http://www.danddexhaust.com/sites/de.../web_625-1.jpg

A buddy of mine has a Dyna bobcat header that he isn't using so were going to mock it up probably next weekend so ill post up my results. HOPEFULLY I can get this to work because I cant stand how quiet the stock exhaust system is...

D&D builds pipes for performance. Form follows function. If you want D&D for performance, by chopping it up you'll probably lose that performance.

That extra bend in the pipe is to keep the headers at equal lengths so they can be easily tuned to get top performance. They spend $$$ in R&D to find what works best. If you feel that you can do better by modding something so that is more aesthetically pleasing to your eyes and still keep the motors tunability, good luck, you'll most likely end up with an exhaust that is possibly useless.

I doubt the additional bend in the headers of the 09-16 boss fat cat has a performance advantage over the 99-08 fat cat model.

My dyna had great performance numbers compared to the touring version

My understanding is the bend is to clear the wider swing arm but keep the pipe tucked in close on 09 and up bikes.

test road Ray C of Lapeer personal RG with D&D fat cat & tw777 cams the bike flat out screamed. Had a deep base thump that would get old for me, but if loud is what your after it is it. It really was a blast to ride.
