I understand those of you in the midwest are about to be engulfed in cicadas. How do they taste???[:'(]

 

Here's YUCK's recipe for Soft-Shelled Cicadas from another thread....

[ul][*]1 cup Worcestershire sauce[*]30 freshly emerged 17-year cicadas[*]2 eggs, beaten[*]1 1/2 cups flour[*]Salt and pepper to season the flour[*]1/2 cup corn oil or slightly salted butter[/ul]

 

There is a low strech of I4 just north of the St Johns River where the critters are terrible. Sounds like a rain storm and the PT is a mess. They are really bad after dark. The wife wonders why I don't take the EGC at 4:30AM!

 

Probably the thing I don't miss the most about Florida! Those freaking love bugs! It was fun to pull them apart and watch them die though!

I just remember that you have to pretty much wash them off your car within about 30 minutes of them splattering on your hood, or they would little love big sized paint discolorations from the acidity of their guts! [:'(]

 

Try out the June bugs in Kansas! They are bigger looking versions of the Love bug and "yes" they will also draw blood! Those suckers just hurt!
