Default Starting issues, Thoughts on whats happening

So in the past couple months, I've had 3-4 times when starting the bike, usually the first time of the day, that when the ignition switch is turned on, no fuel pump sound and wont crank. Have not looked if I had headlight or any other electrical function. Cycle the kill switch and no change about half the time, other times that's all it took for things to get to normal. Other times, had to cycle the ignition switch and all is well. Not enough data to make a call on whats happening. Yesterday, on final leg of a 2k trip, pulled off the interstate to get fuel. Had a line so shut the engine off to wait. When I went to restart a few minutes later, engine did not want to start, and when it did, would only run 4-500 rpm. no throttle response. Pushed off to the side and started checking connections at the intake. No change. Then removed the main fuse for a minute and then put it back in. Started right up as normal. Did not have a check engine light either before or after the fuse pull and install. I think two different problems. Thoughts on what to look for? Bike is a 13 SG, 30k miles, stage one.

Not sure what that is. If you know anyone running an auto tuner like a Fuel Pak, they can plug it into your bike and see if it's throwing any codes that would tell you what might be happening.

Sounds like 2 issues, electrical and maybe fuel.

I would first change out the fob battery, just to be sure that is ok. Then check the bike's battery terminals are clean and tight. Clean the contacts on the main fuse.

This will rule out a few simple things

check for dtc's. heres how to do it.

The following procedure will instruct in retrieving and clearing ECM Diagnostic Trouble Codes and TSM/TSSM codes through the Harley guage cluster as well as a list of codes.

1- Turn Ignition switchto OFF & Run/Stop switch is to Run.

2- Push odometer resetbutton in & hold.

3- Turnignition switchto Ignition and release the odometer reset button. Background lighting should illuminate, speedometer needle should sweep its full range and indicator lamps (battery, security, low fuel, check engine and cruise) should illuminate. The word "diag" should then appear.

4 - Push the odometer resetbutton once and you will seethe selection menu "PSSPt" with the first P flashing.

5 - Each letter represents an area of the diagnostics module. The module that is flashing is the one you are going to check. To move from one letter (module) to the next, you push the odometer resetbutton one time. (from P to S to SP to t and back to P, etc.)
P = ECM/ICM(Electronic Control Module)[EFI] /Ignition Control Module[Carbureted])
S = TSM/TSSM (Turn Signal/ Security Module)
SP = speedometer
T = tachometer

6 - To get the DTC within an area of diagnostics, push and hold the odometer resetbutton in for 5 seconds and release. If there are any DTC's the code will be displayed or the word "none" will appear if there are no DTC's. Push the odometer resetbutton again to view additional codes if they exist.

7 - Record the codes.

8 - If DTC's are not to be cleared, Press and release the odometer resetbutton. Part number of module will be displayed.
NOTE: To determine if a code is current or historic, clear the displayed code by pushing in and holding the odometer reset button ( longer than 5 seconds) until 'clear' comes up. Release the odometer reset button. Turn OFF the ignition switch. Run your bike and shut it down then recheck the DTC's again by repeating steps 1 to 9. If the code is current it will reappear.

9 - Press and release the odometer reset button to continue to the next module.

10 - Turn Ignition switch to OFF.

On models not equipped with a tachometer "No Rsp" will appear when the tachometer identifier is selected.

"No Rsp" (no response) will also appear if the run/off switch is in the off position when doing this procedure.

HFSM = Hands Free Security Module
TSM = Turn signalmodule

DTC’s are designated by a P,C,B or U
P codes indicate issues monitored by ECM
C codes indicate an issue with ABS
B codes are set by Radio, Instruments and BCM

Start by doing this first, If nothing showing Id be willing to bet maybe your ecm connections and throttle body connections need cleaning and some dielectric grease

Checked the codes, Have a P1511 and P2101. Pulled the connector at the actuator, cleaned terminals and added dielectric grease. Thinking this was the problem child for hard start and low RPM idle with no throttle response. I'm also thinking the no fuel pump or cranking when ignition is turned on is something different. I'll gather more data on that issue if and when it continues to happen.

nice job!

edit: im thinking you were going into limp mode (P1511)...also if it does continue and your running a piggy back tuner, take that out of the loop...certain ones have been known to create similar symptoms.
