Default Ward Werks FCS customer service

Thought some of you might be interested in my inquiry with Jason regarding the mounting solution for my 2011 Ultra Classic. I currently have the Mini Beast IV air horns on my bike in chrome that matches with the 96 ci stage one air cleaner. The cow bell is a weak link imho and not nearly loud enough, while the MB does a great job of getting the cagers attention! With our temps here in florida I thought it might be wise to invest in lowering my CHT, along with an Ultra Cool kit for the oil.

When I inquired about the mounting solution for my bike, his response was;

"Not that I would be willing to commit to, its just not worth it. An air horn could be mounted in an alternate location"(his words).

Here is a web page of theirs that contradicts http://wardspartswerks.com/fcs-insta...ive-horns.html, along with a link at the bottom of it that references a post he made on the forum a few years back?

Not a very customer friendly vendor from where I'm sitting...opinions???

I'm very happy with the fans I purchased from Jason. I believe he does all his own work. Perhaps that will change. He did note that he has little time for additional projects because of the demand for his fans. I'm unsure if you are unable or unwilling to work out a solution for utilization of an air horn. If it was me I would run the fans as designed and try to work out a relocation for the horn on my own.

In my business (european car service) I often tell customers we cant do things that are out of the ordinary. Like fabrication or installing aftermarket items. It has nothing to do whether or not we can do it (I am actually a good fabricator and have installed just about any accessory you can think of on my own time), it has more to do with we are more profitable sticking to what we do and specialize in. I know he is very busy producing what he has and trying to keep up with sales. I love his fans on my bike. I actually think he is a good business man to step up and say no, too often guys will say yeah I can do that and it doesn't happen in a timely manner. Then everyone involved is upset and he did not make as much money as he would have if he just stuck to his normal operation. JMHO

Maybe I am missing something but he indicated he has a solution for the MB2 and MB5 and would look at others as time permits. Can one assume Reading the posts regarding back orders that time hasn't permitted and be the reason for his answer. I'm not familiar with the MB horns is your MBIV different than the horns he has identified.

I have never heard an negative thing about wards fan or customer service. He may not have the time or just don't want to mess with it.

So you have a problem with a vendor telling you the truth and you pull out a thread from 4 years ago and post your negative opinion of a vendor who has only been straight up with you.

Not sure where you got that link but looking at his website I do not see it. I do see his FAQ's that say his fans are for use with the stock horns only.

Maybe that mount didn't work which is why he said he didn't have the time or that it wasn't worth his time.

I must be dense. Why would a vendor with a product bend over backwards to accommodate their product to fit someone else's problem? I could understand if the "problem" was a large majority of the market but in this case, not so. I moved my horns a long time ago and used my cow bell for a relay. In addition, I decided to use coupling nuts and different brackets to clean up my "problem" in mating my aftermarket parts with the FCS fans. Like I said. I must be dense because I don't see the issue except IMHO, the OP is expecting too much. Here's a suggestion: Don't buy the fans.

I don't really know Jason, but I did buy a set of fans from him. He seemed to be an alright guy during my dealings with him. Maybe when you were discussing this with him he was having a bad day, or he came across a little gruff (sometimes people say I'm not the friendliest person so I get that), but I can tell you that his product has worked perfectly since it was installed on my wife's Heritage and she couldn't be happier with the result, and they look great! I'd buy another set of fans from him without a second thought.

Sorry to hear that your experience wasn't as good as you hoped, but maybe give him another call and see if things go a little better?

Good luck to you!

I've found his customer service to be Outstanding. Never a question or email gone unanswered and has sent me a new bolt set up for a first gen fan I purchased way back when he first started selling the fans, free of charge. Good guy, great product and perfect customer support in my opinion!

I have his fans and had a problem with the switch... he promptly sent me another switch..... I later found it was a wiring problem and offered to pay for the switch he sent as a back-up. He said to just keep the switch....

He backs his product and it's operation.... that's excellent customer service.

I think it was nice of him to attempt to find a solution for the relative few who have air horns. Just because he didn't find one, and doesn't want to spend more time on it.... not an issue to me.

You make a modification to your bike, it's your responsibility to deal with it.....
