2011 Lowers vent rattles?

Hello,
You can try to tighten it up. Look inside the glove box and there is a bolt that you can snug up a little to see if it helps. Don't overtighten it though or you may crack the plastic. My right one rattled like crazy and the plastic was cracked around that bolt. I just took both the vents off leaving the lowers. Don't really miss them much, although I may look to replace them at some point.
Good luck
Jim

to the op, just tighten the nut at the pivot point a touch. not much, if you tighten it too much, you won't be able to move it.
in the summer time, I remove the vent doors completely, then when it starts cooling down, i'll put them back on. gives you a little more airflow. if you decide to do this, all you have to do is to remove the top cap, then there are 3 torx screws holding the 'glove box' on. remove those, and the glove box and vent door come right off. loosen the pivot nut, and take the whole shebang off. while you have it off, notice that in the top of the vent door is a slot. on the lower, there is a corresponding pin. if yours is anything like mine was, the vent door was 'cutting' the pin. I used a little jb weld to build it back up again, then covered it with a piece of shrink wrap.

There is a part on the inside that you need to replace. It's cheap. You take the lower apart to get to it. The best I can explain is that it's the part holding the bolt and baffle. If you tell the parts guy hopefully he will know what you talking about. When putting back together the baffle has a groove on the bottom that goes over the lower opening. I have changed my right a few times because when I go to grab foot brake my big *** foot kicks it and breaks it. Cheap and easy fix.

Thanks for all the input!! When I got home from a ride. I sat on my stool and really checked it out. Had no cracks. It was not loose. While I was playing it. It kinda popped into place and got stiff again. Theirs a joke there somewhere. Anyway, I think the right side was kicked by my feet because that is by the brake. Dislodged something? I may remove the door/s anyway. I was thinking about it and I really just make sure they are open. In five years on the 2011. I think I closed them once. Thanks again

The part that cracks you cannot see just by looking at it. The best I can describe is that it's the lower tray/floor of your glove box. Look inside the glove box with a light and you might see a crack.

And if you should need a H-D 2011 Touring Service Manual I have both Mechanical and Electrical I'm looking to sell. Both like new and the electrical is still in the wrapper.
