Welding Y pipe

Welding Y pipe
Going to do exhaust header mod tomorrow, where you cut the pipe and plug it with freeze plugs. I want to do this without removing the pipe from the bike if possible. I then want to tack weld the plugs in place. My question is: could welding with it on the bike screw up any of the electronics? Any precautions I should use? Oh and what about the O2 sensor?

It's a 2008 ULTRA. I will disconnect both the battery and the ECM. If this does'nt produce the intended results (less heat on right side, more sound out of left side) or I start getting trouble codes. Then I will go with Fulsac. Thanks for the replies. I will do a follow up and let you know how it turns out. Oh ya l'm running SE STREET CANNONS/ turndown end caps.

take the time to remove the pipe from the bike- the danger to the electronics is real, this is just good practice.
( watch "Long Way 'Round" where they weld a bmw frame in mongolia and kill the bike)
this will also allow the pipe to be turned or positioned so that the best penetration is achieved
