Default Can anyone help me soften my seat?

I have a 2005 Ultra Classic. Love it! Except for one thing. When I get about an hour out on the road my "BUTT" starts to really kill me. I mean sometimes I have to ride like ***** Shoemaker rides a horse. Literally squeezing the tank between my legs to get some comfort. HEY don't laugh. Anybody have any luck with the gel inserts?

Talk to BadX with Mean City Cycles. He is a sponser on the forum. Have him fix your problem with Memory Foam.

Sure I'll help you soften the seat. It'll probably only take me a couple thousand miles. It won't take me long and I promise I'll have her back to you in a couple months. [sm=deal.gif]

I'm sure there are fixes ...gel, foam, etc. ...but I'm not sure if you ride with a billfold in your back pocket. If so, you might try riding with your pockets empty. Silly, but it does make a difference.

Airhawk....kinda like an inflateable mattress for yer keester. Google it. Had one on a 99 heritage and loved it. Other than that, an Air Zeppelin works good for my fatass.

Just so you know, gel does not breath. I had the gel done in Stugis. More comfortable, but it doesn't breath, means that it is "warm" = monkey butt. So I would suggest 3,000 miles. Thats what it took to break in my last seat.

You'll want to stay away from gel pads and espcially with a UC seat. The gel pad is harder than the foam so if you put a gel pad on the foam its reversed from what it should be. The base should always be firmer than the top. Plus gel pads are a waste of money imo thats why I wont sell or even install them. Memory foam is the way to go if you use the correct memory foam. While at Myrtle Beach Bike week some guys were setup installing memory foam $500 a pop(Im too cheap) and I didn't get to feel the memory foam but it wasnt medical grade and was only about a inch thick so it was probably a dense foam which will react slow and I mean slow in cold weather but would be okay to a extent, they weren't reshaping the seats like I do just taking out enough to put their foam in.

The first long trip on my flhx killed myass , I bought a gel sheepskin covered pad and it helped a lot for the ride home. I will be looking to upgrade the seat in near future.

1800 miles on my modified seat from Mean City Cycles. Very good job.
