Default Need SE Pro tuner advice

I have a 2013 FLHTK (stock motor) with Fulsac Sport pipe, mufflers and an S&S Stealth air cleaner installed. The problem I'm having is ping when ambient air temp is high... (mostly). I've been making Smart Tune runs for weeks to set the VE tables and that seems to have stabilized. The ping is still an issue. I've begun tweaking the AFR table (in baby steps) to a richer state with no real results yet. Also beginning to make versions of the tune with timing tweaks using My Tune but not applied those yet. Don't want too many changes at once.

Anyone else been down this path? What solutions did you find? ... Hoping for more information than "Keep tuning on it and it will get better". Looking for some specifics.

I've been using the software for 2 years and have a good understanding of how the system works. But not an expert. I have a strong mechanical background. But again, not an expert. First bike I've tuned this way.

That's the obvious... trying not to spend the coin at the moment... If I can tune out the ping for now I'll be happy... The bike runs well except for the ping... Actually it's had a small ping issue since new.

Try backing off on the timing about 4 degrees.

The very expression 'smart tune' is misleading, as the tuner can only make adjustments to some preset criteria. If that is not giving you the results you would like then the best option is a dyno tune, which uses external measurements to optimise performance. Smart tune cannot do that. It would have been quicker and easier to use a dyno from the outset.

Dyno time is coming but I'm not ready yet... No spare $$$... There is a good dyno guy less than an hour away... He gets like $500 and needs the bike for a week... I had him dyno a bike for me 10+ years ago and it was fine. I contacted him last year about this bike and my ping issues but I still had the factory cat pipe on at the time. He was honest and said save my money until I got rid of the cat, then talk again. I just want to kill the ping enough to get by for a bit longer. I have adjusted timing -3° on one tune I tried and -5° on a different one. It still pinged or ran like crap... However, that was before the new head pipe and I had some AFR adjustments in there too. With the new head pipe I started from scratch again... Just hoping for some info to get me there quicker.

Just had the same issue. I had the same issue and had hte dyno done. The tech told me he set the a/f to 14.1 and advanced the timing in the "ping" zone 2 degrees. My problem went away.

Not that I doubt you... Just want to clarify, but, advanced +2° ?? ... not retard -2° ? ... The typical thing is to retard the timing for a ping or knock... As the ping is caused by ignition too colse to TDC... The retarded timing gives things more time to happen in the cylinder... spark happens a little further on the down stroke and reducing or eliminating the ping.
