Passenger getting hot.
The OL and I were out on a long ride(15 ultra classic) over the weekend ( her first 2+ hour ride) and she was complaining about a lot of heat coming up from the pipes. Anyone else's OL have that complaint. If so what have you done to help the problem. I don't want to decat but a tuner to rich-in her up is an option.Any other ideas?

I've heard richening up without removing the cat will cause more heat not less. It's purpose is to burn any fuel vapors that make it out of the piston. With a richer mixture, supposedly the cat will get hotter with more unburnt fuel being processed, even though the motor itself will burn cooler. I'd be interested to know if this accurate as I had the same experience this weekend with heat too.

Do the stage 1, air cleaner, tuner to richen the mixture, and new exhaust and get rid of the cat pipe. This will help some, but unless you have the new dual cool water system your OL is gonna have hot legs. When the moco went to the 103+ motors, they really kick out a lot of heat.

We get a lot of this with the leg fairings on,vents or no vents.
Heat seems to pool up in front of the right saddlebag and just hang there.
I haven't tried it but maybe some sort of wind deflector right in front of the bag to redirect that hot breeze.
I have noticed while I'm riding cigarette ashes at 50-60 mph just rolling around in a circle in that area for miles. Not exactly a true wind tunnel but it happens so it's at least an indicator of a heat trap. I also get a ton of heat at times from the rear head on the engine when at highway speeds if the wind is from a certain direction. Really burns the inner thigh area for the driver. Make a turn in another direction and it goes away.
