Default Progressive 412's opinions

Hi guys, I have a 05 Ultra that the wife and I enjoy. We are around 500lbs loaded. My factory air shocks work good except for sharp bumps where we can feel it bottom out. I am looking at the 412's mainly due to affordability. If I get these with the HD springs, will they be better than stock? I know there are better shocks out there, but as I said AFFORDABILITY lol. Thanks.

Interesting timing as I was about to post some 412 feedback that I have to share. I've got a 06 Road King. We always ride 2 up. I'm a big guy. We are right at the max weight. The stock air shocks were killing us as far as bottoming out. I kept playing with the air pressure and it helped the ride some but still bottoming out. This was with the stock 13" shocks.

Was at my my favorite bike shop recently and he had a nice set of used 412s that were 13.5". Gave me a great price on them. Best thing I've done to the bike. There was no way that my budget would allow for the premium priced shocks that I often read about. These were already set to the stiffest position. I haven't changed that since they ride so good( and I don't have the spanner tool yet). Feels like a different bike. Zero bottoming out. I don't know if these have the heavy duty springs or not since I bought them used. I could not be happier with them and my wife is certainly enjoying the ride better.

Had them on a street glide and liked them. Better than stock. Good bang for the buck

I have them on a '15 Road Glide. Standard (not heavy duty) springs. Noticeable improvement over the air ride.

I put a pair of 13.5" heavy duty 412's on my FLHT this spring. At the lightest setting, they are borderline too firm for me (220# geared) with an unload bike. With my tour pack installed/bags full, they are just about right. I went heavy duty at the advice of a Progressive tech. I was 30# heavier though when I bought them. They will swap out the springs 1x free of charge if I decide to ship them back. For the $200 cost, they were/are a worthwhile upgrade. On a side note, I'd also give the 13.5" some thought. They have an extra .4" travel and steering difference is barely/if not noticeable.
