Default SOS!!! Dad stranded on side of the road 1000 miles from home!!!

My dad has a 2010 Ultra Classic on a ride from Florida to Illinois. He hit rain, rode to an underpass and killed it. Had his flashers on for about 5-10 minutes, then went to start it. He can hear the fuel pump prime, but he isn't getting ANYTHING from the start button. No noise from the starter or anything.

EDIT: He got it going. He hit the starter after about 30 minutes and it finally kicked, but not enough to start. Weak battery. He apparently had a dealer about 3 or 4 miles from him. They came out and jumped him and he made it to his destination. I'm betting he will need a new battery sooner than later.

Thanks all!!

Have him pull in the clutch lever and put the bike in neutral and try starting again

Also have him flip the run switch off and on

He called and told me he was messing with it and got it to at least kick the starter. I bet he had the bike "on" and drained the battery. I ran through a basic checklist with him. Pull clutch, make sure bike is "on", neutral, etc.

I think we figured it out. Dead battery.

Too late for this ride but this is another good reason not to travel too far from home without one of these. Or similar.

Not saying this is a good idea, especially on a flat road, but I have been able to push start my bike before. I usually have it in 2nd or 3rd gear to do this.

...or ask a passing motorist for a jump? Thank goodness it was "just" a low battery.

If running the flashers killed the battery I'd say he was due a battery anyway.

Fuel injection can't be started this way. Maybe if there is enough in the battery to get fuel pump working, as he said.
