I like having the nut on the end of the k&n filter. I buy the 171b from Walmart online, delivered to my store and pay $8.43 plus tax.

I use WIX 57148 or NAPA PS7148

Both are black HD filters and I get them in bulk for 6 bucks each including shipping (no tax).

I don't think I get the advantage of the nut on the end of the K&N. I remove HD filters with the same filter pliers I use on all my vehicles.

Got a pic of these pliers...I'd like to have a looksee.

OP; K&N is about the norm...does the trick, tad cheaper than HD and the nut for install/removal is nice feature.

Mine are Channellock but there are a blue million companies that make them. The reason I like them is you don't put anything near the crank position sensor.

Default oil filter

I have pliers like that which I use for all my cars but with the lowers and everything else, I can't get them in there and get a grip on the filter, that's why I like the nut on the K&N.

Anyone use the Hifiltro HF171BRC filters? They're on amazon for $8 with free shipping and they have the nut on the end as well. I know, I know, I paid $20K for a touring bike, I shouldn't be cheap and save $4 on the filter, give it a rest, I'm just curious.
