Default It's so hot I think the lowers are coming off.

I've only had my lowers off twice and put them right back on both times. It has turned so hot here in Missouri I think I'm going to pull the lowers off. My 2010 Ultra is pretty much stripped down except for the lowers there is nothing left to take off. I do like the lowers in cooler temperatures but I need some more wind in this heat. At 61 years of age I can't take the heat like I use to. How many of you guys pull your lowers when it gets hot ?

I like the wind management that I get with the lowers. so when the temps go up, I pull the vent doors off. even with the door fully open, it still blocks about 1/3 of the opening. before you pull them all the way off, try that. 2 nuts to pull the top cap off, then 3 torx screws to remove the glovebox, then 1 nut to remove the vent door. I do it without even taking them off the bike, you just have to tilt them back a little so that your torx driver can access the screws.

I added lowers expecting I would take them off in summer but no way. Like he said, the wind management and less leg fatigue fighting the wind.

Took my lowers off once; never again. Not really much cooler and I missed the wind management.

Thanks for the suggestion of removing the doors. I have heard of some doing that but I didn't know how to do it. I do have a service manual but your explanation seems pretty clear. I'll take a look tomorrow since it's suppose to be 99 degrees on Wednesday.

As hot as its been in Missouri the last few days, having the lowers off probably isn't going to make any difference.

Never taken mine off. I just open the doors in the summer and close them in the winter. Plus, it would be nice to have them on if you get caught in the rain.

Hi all, not sure what y'all mean about air managment. Winter there on, summer there gone. This was arriving home in August, after day and half of rain coming back from couple week ride. W/rain gear on was dry. In the winter sure can tell the difference w/o lowers, but not missed in the summer. Sounds like your looking for a reason to keep em on, mine are fixed so no vent to remove. Lots easier to wash the bike when there sitting on the shelf. Hope that helps.
