Default Loose rubber

I replaced the rubber insulators on the muffler mounts just a few rides ago, because the left side bracket opening had enlarged, allowing the muffler to vibrate left / right. Put the new ones in, all is good, nice and snug.

Sooooo... I'm wiping down the bike today, and the left side rubber bracket opening is enlarged again, allowing the muffler to vibrate side to side again.

Thinking of flattening out the bracket a little to make it wider, and pumping it full of silicone. Or, just pumping it full of silicone as is. Bad batch of rubbers maybe?

Thoughts, Questions or Comments are welcome.

Remove the rubber hangers from each side. Then from the rear of the bike, take a look at how the mufflers are hanging. If the left one is hanging lower than your right one, that's what's causing the premature elongation of the rubber.

To remedy this, I would check to see that the crossover pipe is aligned correctly and the mounting strap is tight, because if this part of the header is not aligned correctly, it can influence how your left muffler hangs. Also something to investigate is to ensure the left muffler is installed all the way up on the header where it should be AND that the muffler clamp is tight to torque specs....38-43 ft lbs using a brand new clamp.

Happens all the time, I just secured it with bare wire, problem solved.

Are you sure its the brackets "enlarging" vs the rubber isolators just working their way out?

The rubber isolator is right where it's supposed to be. It's only a month old. Glad they're only 2 bucks.

Well, I guess I was wrong. I thought this thread would be about an unplanned pregnancy.
