i have a russell on my 2013 FLHTK. i have had stock, an ultimate, a mustang $700 tourer which sits on a shelf. i finally bit the bullet and got a russell day long. i figured if cops and iron butt guys ride it, it has to be good. it uses your seat pan so you have to provide a seat. i sent my stock pan since i had the mustang and used it until i got my day long back. i had the leather option, reinforced base, cause i tip the scales at 270, and heat. i too got the half moon pattern. no problem with the leather as long as you treat it once in a while during the riding season. i sent my back rest and back pad to have them covered too. all in all a little pricey but when you think i spent well over a grand trying out seats, its worth it. it feels more like you are sitting on a chair rather than a bike saddle. it positions you a little higher because of that and it could cause a change in the reach to the ground. it also has a fit guarentee but ups shipping is $$ from the east coast. i only got my part of the seat heated and bolstered because my wife is just a little bit and doesn't ride often. it cost me $1350 for everything but as i said that was for bolster/reinforcement in the front, heat for me and leather for the seat, backrest and tourpac back rest. i used to get tailbone pain after about an hour and i would have to stop. now, like others have said, ride fill up to fill up. would do it all again in a heart beat. I've tried to put a few pics that i have. hope they help.

tbob, is that the Danny Gray seat in your profile pic? I just heard from them and they have a new model coming out called the Longaul IST leather and another with air, both with rider backrest. You like the 'air' option??

the stitching....does it let water into the seat? or do you have to put a rain cover on it?
thanks.
No, It actually feels like it moves you foreward a little but thats mostly just from being lower than stock. I put on the Kury footboard extenders that move boards up and out an inch, With an extended brake lever It fits me perfect at 6.0' tall.

No problem with rain, I treat it twice a year with Lexol, Sometimes I'll put a plastic garbage bag over it if its gonna be out in the rain all night and we need to check-out and ride on to our next stop after breakfast. But usually just wipe it off with a towell and good to go. At home it stays in the garage if its raining lol.
