Good thing I checked before I drained it. I have an 05 Electra glide Classic EFI and last night I changed most fluids except the primary. How do you get the passsenger side floorboard off to access the one primarycover bolt behind it?? Is it just that 1 allen bolt that holds the floorboard on or more? Is there a trick or a tool?? I wanted to get this done this morning before my wife and kids are up and just eat up my day.

OK, I,m confused now...why do you want to take off anything(floorboard or primary cover), just to drain/change primary fluid?..I have the same bike as you and it's really no big deal to drain the primary.

 

No I know, but theres one bolt holding the cover that I cantget a socket or L wrench onbehind the passengerfloorboard .

 

I mean to take the cover off to be able torefill it afterI drain it.

 

You should not have to remove a floorboard to drain or refill the primary. If you do want to remove it however, there is just on socket head cap screw holding it (passenger floorboard) on. Fold the board down, remove the bolt and pull it out.

Look at the rear (passenger)floorboard on the pic ofyour bike(nice) how can you get any socket or L wrench on that one primary bolt with the board in the way?

 

use the drain plug under the primary to drain and then refill through the access cover in the center of the primary cover or through the clutch access cover (derby cover). You can't refill it by removing the primary cover. What's going to hold theoil if you have the primary cover off?

 

Thats what I thought. I'll go do that after braekfast and aftermy freakin kids stop whining about bullshti-just what I wanted to avoid too.

 

Come to think of it the part I can't get off is called the derby cover isn't it?? WTF was I thinking- either way that bolt is still not accessable with the floorboard in the way
