Default Rinehart 2-1: FLHX P-Clamp install HELP!!

Posted this in the Tech forums, but thought I might get an answer here also.

Anyone have any tips for getting the P-clamp installed? The directions say to spread the p-clamp over the pipe and install it over the OEM bracket.

First off, the example picture they used was on their true duals.[:@] After spreading the clamp and slipping it over the bracket, I can't compress it enough to get it's shape back, so I can install the lock nut and bolt to hold it tight.[sm=headbang.gif]

Any tricks (other than T-Rex clampless) would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I had the same issue. I used vise grips to hold it closed while I threaded the nut. Took a while but I got it...

Yep, usevise grips or channel locks. Put them over the holes where the bolt goes through on each side and her a good squeeze. Thats how I have had to do it a couple of different times.

Thanks for all the tips. I went back to the channel locks this morning and was able to get it lined up and installed. Rinehart needs to go back to improve their QA. putting the front heat shield was a b**ch, becasue they decided to line a clamp up right under the cam cover, and another right in the way of a welded brace by the collector. Not to mention, trying to thread the clamp on the collector cover is rediculous!!
