so you have an 08 ultra which has a 50,000 mile maintenance interval on your front fork oil. but hd doesn't spec for it, the dealer didn't do it, but your gonna put them on your **** list for it. yeah, makes perfect sense to me. did you ask them to do it? did you pay them extra for it? if you did, then you have a valid complaint. if not, then I would suggest looking in your owners manual before your next service, familiarize yourself with what needs to be done, and then ask your dealer if they actually do it during that service.

even better, do them yourself. then you know what was or was not done.

Default fork oil

not trying to throw anyone under the bus but was told that the fork oil should be changed at around 20 thou. If not then I guess there no reason to be concerned . as time goes on more service and repairs will be done by me when needed.

on my 07 it says 20or 25000 miles... I change it at around 20. What a difference it makes, I use a mix of belray and Screaming eagle...

My 2008 Ultra does too, but the manual states nothing of them. sections 2.17 states the forks need to be removed, drained (upside down) and reassembled at 50k.

On that note, what is the point of a drain screw (?) if the manual requires this?

On my old FLSTF I drained via the screw at the bottom....

If you have to remove them you might as well throw in new seals. I got the whole kit on Ebay for 56 bucks. I used SE #15 oil.

I wouldn't replace non leaking fork seals on a drain and refill. It's just more work that you probably won't need to do unless they start leaking. (which is unlikely if they aren't already)

Now if you're taking 50K miles and up, yes I would do it. But not because the seals might start leaking. You have to disassemble the fork to replace the bushings so new oil seals will need to be fitted.

On the older bikes with the drain screws it's a simple job to drain and re-fill the forks every 10,000 miles. At 50,000 they get a full rebuild with bushings and seals.

Default fork oil

my manual said the same thing. apparently draining is not an option without removal. So, it stays as is at this point no leakage so I'll leave it alone.
