The only reason not to run a cast wheel is either because nobody makes the style you want in a cast wheel or you are racing and need the ultralight forged or cnc'd wheel. Forged is lighter still than CNC and CNC is not a guarantee of quality it's just a process. The quality of the alloy can be anywhere on the map.

Cast doesn't mean low quality, like CNC it's just a process. They are still round, still hold a rotor, still hold a tire, and will get you down the road reliably.

Don81 is right on the money. I work in automotive diecast/machining everyday and I was a little reluctant to spend that much on a front wheel. Hell at one point a couple of us with bikes here at work were tossing around idea of machining one ourselves.

Needless to say we didn't and I bought a 26" contrast cut wheel from Primo. Got it on black Friday sale last year $600 off. Still, With tire & shipped it was $1750 for ONE FN WHEEL....but I have to say, I've worked in machining for 14yrs and the machining on the wheel I bought is top notch.

It's all in what you want and what you wanna give. I usually hate hearing "u get what you pay for" but until I'm convinced otherwise the ol saying is true with MC wheels...

+1

I'm a prototype machinist. I make different things all day long. Thought about making my own wheel after seeing the cost. There's a lot too it. Decided my time was better spent paying someone else for it.

Won't be long before many people are 'printing' custom parts.

Any help to keep my wife from filing a divorce is welcome.

yea was shocked at the price of custom rims....no way would I ever personally bother...unless I had some kind of show bike.

We have some front wheel packages starting around $1399 where you get a 21" front wheel, a couple matching rotors, and a tire. Full packages for baggers with a matching rear wheel and tire start around $2399. Of course the prices can go up from there to the $3500 range for a full set so just depends on your budget and taste. Like others have said can't compared large production runs of Chinese made car/truck cast wheels to small production runs of American made CNC billet wheels.

I found a front HD Blade wheel for my 07 Fatty on eBay for $275. It is a forged wheel with beautiful chrome. I then tried to find the matching rear wheel. No dice. Had to search dealers throughout the country...(those wheels for my bike were discontinued) Found one at a dealer in NC. Had to pay full price for it...$1200. so for under $1500 I got a matching set. If I had to buy them both new it would have been around $2500...Keep searching!
