2/32 is about as far as I take them down,it's all ya got to keep you upright. Some people will say 1/32, to me thats pushing it

Age and depth. I just replaced a 407 on a recent used bike purchase due to age more than depth.

2/32 on depth. But make certain you check date code for age. 5 years or more replace.

Tread is there mainly to give water a place to go, so it doesn't get between the tire and road surface. So, if you never ride in the rain; IMO you can run the tread down to 2/32". To me; age of tire, hardness, cracking is important than tread depth.

But then again when compared to your safety, tires are not that expensive, so err on the side of caution and replace it.

I just replaced 4 year old tires on my Fatboy. The tires were in very good shape; but it corners with much more confidence with new tires on it now.

I replace at 2.5/32 prior to long trips in the mountains on my touring bike. My softails, which are mostly used for short local trips, I will replace at 1.5/32 to 2.0/32. Ron 😎

replace them.

I lean at replacing too early on every occasion. Tires are the only 2 points of contact on the road.

I agree with the replacement at 2/32" of tread left.

If you have to ask, "Is it time to replace my tires?" Then it's probably time to replace them.
