Thinking of going from 96" to 103" (Dealer take off)
I have a 2007 FLHX with 6500 Miles(I know i need to ride more). I have been considering the upgrade for awhile. So a friend came to me and said his friend just went from the 103" kit to the 110" tire shredder kit and he said it would be a good upgrade. I'm wondering if it is a good Idea to go ahead and do the Swap(Jugs, pistons, cams, and head) I know the newer bikes are throttle by wire can i use my old Throttle body? and what will i need to do to about the CR? will i need to have the dealer do a computer update. also considering buying a aftermarket set of cams and having the head polished and ported maybe even going from 9:1 pistons to 10:1.
What is everyone's take on this any help would be appreciated. Thank you

This is what I would ask myself.
- What is your 07 really worth?
-What can you buy a 14+ for?
-What is the difference?
-What will it cost to upgrade your 07?
-Additional cost to upgrade to a 14+ vs upgrading your motor.
This is exactly what I did, realizing the issues with the 07 motors. Running hot, pinging, crank issues. 07 was not one of Harley's good years. No offense. It cost me $10,000 to move from a 07 SE ultra to a new 14+ Limited. I bet you can do better today.
You will benefit from a totally improved bike, higher value down the road and most importantly, a more enjoyable bike to ride. I cannot think of anything on a 07 that was not upgraded on the Rushmores.
IMHO, something to seriously consider. You only live once.

There are a lot better ways to spend your money ( Scott and Pearl ) have pointed out two. I wouldn't "trash" a 6,500 mile engine by replacing it. If I was serious about more power a few improvements ( FM 107 :>) ) would give you good bang for the buck.
The newer chassis scooters are a bunch better than the older ones too.
Decisions ... decisions ... decisions :>(

I just upgraded to the 103. I also wanted the 107 but was talked out of it by 2 different builders. Horsepower Is basically the same and a 107 is maxed out no oversize for down the road. If you ever needed anything you can walk into any dealer and buy anything for a 103, not so much for a 107. Just another view, good luck.

I have 40000 miles on my 07. Just did a 5000 mile return trip to Puerto Penasco. Never missed a beat. I have a Power Vision which greatly improved the performance and rideability. No pinging, runs cooler and it rips for a 96. Original Compensator in the bike. If the price was right go for the 103. But first I would try the Powervision. You will be pleasantly surprised. My bike is paid for. Has been for years. I've ridden the new ones. Other than the linked brakes I really don't see the big difference people rave about. Certainly not 15 k worth anyway which is the difference I was just quoted to move up to a used Ultra. Good luck

Sounds like a good upgrade, however I would hesitate to put used cylinders and pistons in unless low mileage and you replaced rings and had the cylinders glaze busted (and cleaned thoroughly) and any top ridge removed first. This is if its not a new engine take off of course, if it is then run it as it came off. Make double sure you keep each piston with its cylinder, don't mix them. You will need a tuner of some sort to change the fuel and other settings for the bigger bore. Still can use your original throttle body. I would not use the cam from the 103 but go to something better like the Andrews 57H.
